This We Day, was completely different from the past we days I had attended before. Bursting into tears every so often too from the joy in knowing that all of us in the stadium were making an impact, a big one! After making a transition from volunteering with a purpose to understanding that volunteering was an extension of myself, I realized that this moment was a time to celebrate but also to improve.

I was so fortunate to be able to experience everything! The performers Nick Jonas, Shawn Mendes, J. Lo, and Marianas Trench really got me excited and pumped up to create change. And as for Shawn, I’m totally fangirling and crushing over him right now, ha!

But what I got out of today was incredible. I am so proud of what the Kielburger’s have done, and it would be a dream to be able to impact so many youth and people around the world like they have. That’s one of my dreams. I want to leave a beautiful legacy behind that will inspire others and really make them believe and feel good about themselves. It’s true we all have our own story and struggles that make us who we are and what we care about. The inspirational things said by Selena Gomez, Silken Laumann, Craig Kielburger, Donnie Yen, Ashley Murphy, and more really hit close to home today.

From Selena, I learned that people are always going to judge you before getting to know you, they’re going to let you down, they’re going to try to dim your light, but you should not let that cloud who you’re going to be or who you want to be.
